Inner Healing Consultancy - Psychotherapy

What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a "talking therapy" and involves a person that is experiencing difficulties meeting on a regular basis to talk through his or her difficult, often painful emotions and experiences with a qualified psychotherapist.

How can it help me?
A psychotherapist works with people who have emotional, behavioural or psychological issues. There are many different types of psychotherapeutic techniques and psychotherapists may use a combination of techniques to help their clients to overcome their stress, emotional difficulties and troublesome habits and to help them gain an increased capacity for choice.

What happens during the sessions?
Following an initial one-to-one consultation, psychotherapy involves regular meetings. In individual psychotherapy one client and one therapist talk together in a quiet, safe and private room. During these sessions the client is asked to focus on his or her feelings, thought and behavioural patterns. Treatment sometimes involve talking about difficult emotions and past experiences that may have led to their present situation and also how these experiences may be affecting their lives now. Clients can learn to overcome their fears by learning new ways of coping and of reducing their anxieties and negative thought patterns.

How many sessions will I need?
In most cases the length of treatment will be agreed between the client and therapist prior to the commencement of therapy. Long and short-term therapy is available.
